Every spring, more than seven million

blooms open at the famous Keukenhof Gardens, including thousand varieties of tulips. One million people visit annually this festival of bright colors along the 28 ha (70 acres) in area. Hyacinths, daffodils, narcissi, tulips and croci in every combination of red, orange, yellow, purple and gold offer an unequaled spectacle. Opened in 1949, the Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, a cultivation region between Amsterdam and The Hague. The Netherlands is known for country of tulips, but curiously its origin was not here, they were brought in the 16th century at the request of the Flemish ambassador to Constantinople, who was captivated by her beauty. The tulips, the lilies, gladioli, daffodils and other decorative flowers is one of the Netherlands most important export products. Keukenhof means kitchen garden.
