Aquidneck Island

Rhode Island is the smallest U.S. state.

The island where stands part of its territory is called Aquidneck Island and is distinguished from the state. The island is connected to the mainland by three bridges, the Newport bridge that goes to Jamestown, the Mount Hope Bridge in Portsmouth that connects the northernside of the island and the Sakonnet River Bridge. Newport, Middleton and Portsmouth are the three municipalities of Rhode Island. Rhode Island had a major naval base of the U.S. Navy, now the main source of income is tourism.
