Manchester

The greatest rivalry in northwest England

will never be resolved. Liverpool has always been more commercial Manchester more industrial, both are the two biggest cities of the north. Manchester played a key role in the Industrial Revolution, sometimes was called “Cottonopolis”  and lived hard times after the end of the textile industries. The city retrofitted up and lives today better times. Manchester suffered somewhat from World War II and in 1996 an IRA bomb devastated the city center which led to a major redevelopment in the area. Manchester has enough buildings of Victorian architecture especially its Town Hall. There is a huge cultural tradition of the city, do not miss the Imperial War Museum North and Manchester Art Gallery. The Manchester Cathedral is very beautiful and worth a visit. Salford is a city located within walking distance of Manchester. Hotels in Manchester
