Himeji is a city known for its impressive

fortress (castle), one of the most beautiful in Japan. Lies north-west of Osaka and was built in 14th century. The Himeji Castle was designed to look like the shape of a bird in flight known as Hhirasagijo. The fortress is considered by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.
