Palermo
Palermo is the capital and main
city of Sicily. The Phoenicians were attracted by the natural harbor located at the bottom of Mount Pellegrini. The city was dominated by Romans, Byzantines, Saracens and Moors. The local mafia continues to strangle the city of Palermo socially. The main touristic spots in Palermo are the Palazzo dei Normani, the Cathedral, Palazzo Abbatellis, Puppet Museum, the Church of Jesus (Chiesa del Gesu), the Regional Archaelogical Museum and the Botanical Garden.
