Ischia is the largest island in the
Bay of Naples, Capri rivals in beauty, is a volcanic island with 10 km (7 mi) long and 7 km (4.5 mi) wide that rises to 788 m (2500 ft) at Monte Epomeo that divides the island in two zones. The south and west of the island takes to the hot dry winds from Africa, cactus and palms thrive in this sub-tropical environment. In the shadow of Mount Epomeo north flourish typical Mediterranean trees like cypress, cork, hohn oak, almond and olive as well as the vines terraces. Despite receiving many visitors, it is still possible to find idyllic beaches almost desert.
