Just 16 km (9 mi) off the coast of Monte Argentario,

lies the island of Giglio in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Giglio that belongs to Tuscany Archipelago has steep slopes and charming bays, there are only three small villages, Giglio Castello is the most important, a beautiful set of narrow streets, medieval towers and stone houses. Giglio was an important military base, first to the Etruscans, then to the Romans. Don’t miss the gate and fortifications of the Rocca Pisana at Giglio Castello, there are beautiful views over the sea and the island. You can get Giglio by ferry from Porto Santo Stefano on Argentario. In 13th January of 2012 there was an accident with a Costa Concordia cruise boat on the Giglio’s coast. Hotels in Giglio
