Izmir is a city situated on the west coast of Turkey

near the Mount Pagos. It is an ancient city that was called Smyrna, was destroyed by the Persians in 545 BC and was re-founded by Alexander the Great. It was a very important city in the Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire. Izmir is a historic city, has the second largest port in Turkey and many places of tourist interest like the Hisar Mosque, the Kislaragasi Han, the Ethnography Museum, the St. Polycarp Church that’s the oldest Christian church and the Beth Israel synagogue.
