Barcelona

Right in the northeast of Spain

on the Mediterranean coast, Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia. It is a major European city with a wonderful medieval center which highlights the Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter) which includes the beautiful cathedral. Close this quarter is La Rambla, the most cosmopolitan of all the avenues of Barcelona. Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926) was an important Catalan architect and created amazing buildings in the city like Casa Mila also known as La Pedrera. Casa Batlló, just like the Casa Mila highlight the curves of the facade. Park Guell is the epitome of Catalan Modernism but the great work of Gaudi is Sagrada Familia, which is expected to completed in 2026, the centenary of the death of Gaudi. All these are works of Gaudi UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Barcelona is rich in museums which includes the Joan Miró Foundation and Picasso Museum. After the Olympics, the city was very fresh with plenty of modern infrastructure, the area that most benefited from this was the Puerto Olimpico, an ideal place for a walk along the Mediterranean. For sports lovers in general and football in particular is impossible to disassociate the city from his football club, FC Barcelona one of the most important football clubs in Europe.
