Only 30 kms (20 mi) from Lisbon, lies the magical town of Sintra,

a place that concentrates some of the most beautiful palaces in Portugal. In the center of town, lies the Palace of Vila with its two towers. Streets are narrow and charming in town center, a popular location for visitors, but best of Sintra lies more to the side or above. On the road to the stunning coastline, there is Seteais Palace, the Monserrate Palace and Quinta da Regaleira, all stunning buildings not to be missed. Climbing to the top of the mountain, there is the Capuchin Convent, the magnificent Moorish Castle and on top of everything, the Pena National Palace, one of the most beautiful palaces in the world, being the first palace built in European architectural movement Romanticism. 30 years later, was built Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany, one of the nicest examples of this style of architecture. The park surrounding the palace is worth a visit. Do not visit Sintra in just one day, take at least two or three full days to Sintra. Near Sintra, lies the beautiful coastal town of Cascais. By Train: There are trains from several stations in Lisbon to Sintra. The journey takes 40 minutes and the return ticket cost is 4,10€

By Tram: During the Summer a historic tram connects Sintra to Praia das Maças, the most westerly holiday resort of Europe’s mainland.
