Lisbon Cathedral

The Lisbon Cathedral was built in 1150 by

King Afonso Henriques, three years after having conquered Lisbon from the Moors. The Cathedral has a mix of architectural styles, Baroque, Gothic and Romanesque. Inside, the emphasis is on Chapel St Ildefonso, the Gothic cloister and the Franciscan chapel. The most precious piece of the cathedral, is the ark containing the remains of St. Vincent, the legend says, two crows sacred, kept a constant vigil on the boat carrying the relics. The crows and the boats have become the symbol of the city of Lisbon. It is also believed that the descendants of the original crows, lived in the cloister of the cathedral. Hotels in Lisbon
