Acropolis of Athens
The Acropolis is the main
landmark of Athens. Acropolis means “high city” and this place is on a hill with stunning views over Athens. The Parthenon is the main building of the Acropolis, is a Doric temple built between 447 and 438 BC and made with 3500 blocks of marble, all different from each other. It is a masterpiece of design, were used sophisticated techniques to neutralize optical effects. There are other interesting buildings on the Acropolis as the Erechtheum, the New Museum of Acropolis, the Theatre of Dionysus, the Panathenaic Way and the Ancient Agora.
