situated on the banks of the River Neckar. The famous 18th century Old Bridge, is one of the icons of the city. The castle on the wooded hills of Odenwald, has stunning views over the city. Heidelberg in southwestern Germany, was not bombed during World War II because the Americans had reserved this city to its base.
