The Aland Islands are located in the

clear blue waters of the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the Gulf of Bothnia. Aland is a set of 80 inhabited islands and 600 smaller islets and rocks. Officially belonging to Finland, the Aland Islands were awarded autonomy by the League of Nations in 1921, has its own flag and government. Mariehamn is the only town of archipelago and the centre of the shipping and tourist industries of Aland Islands. Don’t miss the Fortress of Bomarsund and the beautiful beaches.
