Qufu

Qufu is the birthplace of the

philosopher Confucius, his presence still pervades Qufu. Kong Miao Confucius Temple is a large complex, which along with the cemetery and family mansion of Kong is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The most important monuments and buildings of Qufu are the Hall of Great Perfection (Dacheng Hall), the Star of Literature Pavillion, the Apricot Platform (Xing Tan Pavilion) the Stella Pavillions and the Hall of Confucius Wife. The complex is the second largest in China is only smaller than the Forbidden City in Beijing. A little north of Qufu is the cemetery where the tomb of Confucius is.
