The Mekong River is more than
4000 km (2485 mi) long, is the twelfth longest river in the world. The Mekong begins its journey on the Tibetan Plateau, flows down to southwest China, around Myanmar, down to Thailand and Laos bordering both, flows to Cambodia and finally reaches Vietnam, where its fertile delta forms the Vietnam’s agricultural heartland. The Mekong is known as the Vietnam Cuu Long (Nine Dragons) due to having nine tributaries. The Mekong passes by millions of people and for many cities, Luang Prabang in Laos, is one of the nicest.
