Penang Hill

The Penang Island is the site of the oldest

British settlement in Malaysia. Captain Francis Light arrived in Penang because he needed a place that would be the base where the East India Company ships were repaired. Francis Light made an agreement with the Sultan of Kedah, in exchange for military protection, received permission to colonize the island covered with forest and almost uninhabited. In the middle of the city of George Town, Penang Hill is nearly 900 m in height that provides stunning views. A cable car makes the journey from the city to the top of the hill but there are those who make a two hour walk and rejoice in the beauty of the route. Hotels in Penang
