Komodo belongs to the Lesser Sunda Islands,

is neighbor of Sumbawa and Flores islands. The island is famous for its distinctive fauna, the Komodo dragon, the largest lizard in the world, gives its name to the island. Komodo receives thousands of tourists who come to see the lizard, there are guided tours for this purpose. Komodo dragons can be 3 m (10 ft) and despite the short legs can run at the speed of a dog. They also swim, and live from island to island. There are important precautions to take to avoid danger. The Komodo National Park, was created in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragon, is UNESCO World Heritage Site. Komodo, Rinca and Padar are the three islands that compose the national park. The island has a very high biodiversity, besides Dragon is also home of Ocean Sunfish, Whale Sharks, Manta Rays, Pygmy seahorses, Blue-Ringed Octopus, Eagle Rays, False Pipifish, Nudibranchs, Clown Frogfish, Sponges and Coral Reefs.
