Delhi

The capital of India is also one of the

oldest cities in the world, inhabited since the year 2000 BC. Delhi saw the rise and fall of many empires, and was the capital of some of them. Delhi, the city of the Mughals, it splits into two, Old Delhi and New Delhi, the new part came with a draft British architect, Lutyens. The new part has two wide and huge avenues, the magnificent Rajpath presidential palace, the Rashtrapati Bhavan and India Gate, a stunning arc with 42 m (140 ft) which honors the more than 90,000 Indian soldiers who died fighting British wars. Beside Rajpath there is a square building that has inspired the Royal Crescent in Bath. Old Delhi is another world, it seems another city, Chandni Chowk, is the main avenue leading to numerous narrow streets full of bazaars and markets, always full of people, cows, where everything can be sold with a very characteristic smell of Indian spices. The Red Fort is the main icon of the old part of Delhi. The largest mosque in India is situated in Delhi, it is the Jama Masjid. Delhi is a exciting, challenging, exasperating  and sometimes disgusting city but it is well worth knowing. Hotels in Delhi
