Chennai is an Indian city located

on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. It is the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu and the fourth largest city in India. It is famous as a centre of Indian music, dance, for its architecture, cultural heritage and beautiful sandy beaches. In 1639, the British East India Company signed an agreement with a local nayak (ruler) to build a warehouse. The following year the Fort of St George was built, it was one of the first bastions British in India and the city start growing around it. Don’t miss the fine Indo-Saracenic Architecture, the Portuguese 16th century San Thome Basilica (or St Thomas Cathedral Basilica), the Kapaleeshwar Temple, the Chennai Museum, the Guindy National Park and the Sri Parthasarathy Temple. Chennai is a base for the Tamil movie industry, dubbed Kollywood. Marine Beach with its 13 km (8 mi) of golden sand is a great place to relax.
