is a large group of over 570 islands but just 30 are inhabited. The islands are part of India but lies more than 1000 km (625 mi) from the mainland. The islands are located in the Bay of Bengal not far from the Indonesia’s island of Sumatra. The islands have stunning beaches and awesome places to dive and snorkeling. Port Blair on South Andaman is the capital and main city. There was a British Penal Colony in Port Blair. You can get Port Blair by air or boat from Kolkatta and Chennai.
