Koh Kong

The island of Koh Kong is sometimes confused

with the whole region and the capital which both is also called Koh Kong. The island is 22 km (14 mi) south of the city. Located only 80 km (50 mi) from Ko Chang in Thailand, Koh Kong had many years without being a tourist destination but is now in the roadmap for people who enjoy good beaches. Currently, there is a bridge connecting Koh Kong mainland to Thailand and the tourism has started to develop faster but Koh Kong is still a very quiet place. The beaches are gorgeous, have fine white sand and coconut trees that allow a complete rest. Just like Koh Rong, there are plans to build several hotels. The best option to visit the island of Koh Kong, is to be based in the town of Koh Kong which has more than 20 000 inhabitants and then take a tour to the island and discover the pristine beaches. Being close to Thailand, there are plenty of connections to the neighbor country like drink Thai beer, paid in Thai currency.
