Cusco (or Cuzco in Spanish) is a city

in southeastern Peru at 3,500 m (11,500 ft) high. Situated near the Urubamba Valley (Sacred Valley) of the Andes Mountain Range, Cusco is the archaeological capital and the oldest inhabited city of South America. It was officially founded in 1534 by the Spanish conquistador, Francisco Pizarro, although its history goes back much earlier. You can get a day trip tour to the amazing Inca city ruins of Machu Picchu in Cusco.
