Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara is a former fishing village

in northeastern Brazil, in the state of Ceará. Located near the equator, Jericoacoara was until a few years ago, a place lost in time , not present on tourist maps. Now is part of the most important tourist routes as one of the best places in the Brazilian Northeast. The whole area around Jericoacoara was declared an Environmental Protection Area in 1994. From a little village without electricity or roads with its inhabitants living from fishing, Jericoacoara is nowadays a different place, there is more tourism but growing with regulatation and some restrictions. The beach is amazing, the dunes give to Jericoacoara a beauty almost unique and very challenging to all who want to hike. Don’t miss the Jericoacoara National Park, the Poço da Princesa and especially the beaches around such as Malhada Beach, Preá Beach and Guriú Beach. Hotels in Jericoacoara
