Ilha Grande

It is a mountain ridge that emerges

from a sea emerald, covered with tropical forest situated near Angra dos Reis. The Ilha Grande Bay has more than 360 idyllic and undeveloped islands, still pure nature. Long time ago, the Big Island was used as a Prison Cândido Mendes, today is a place of relaxation. The unofficial capital of Ilha Grande is Abrãao  (Abrãao ), a small picturesque village with whitewashed churches with mixed buildings colored in shades of blue, yellow and pink. In Abrãao there are restaurants, inns, craft shops and bars around this village there are beautiful beaches with white sand clear waters ideal for diving, snorkeling, surfing, windsurfing and other water sports. There are other beaches only accessible by boat as the Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon). You can get Ilha Grande by Rio de Janeiro. Ilha Grande means Big Island in Portuguese.
