Iguazu Falls

The enormous impact of nearly 300 waterfalls

with average heights of up to 70m (230 ft) in a stretch of 2.7 km (1.7 mi) in a verdant landscape is unlikely to be forgotten. The Iguazu Falls in Iguazu River located on the border of southern Brazil and the Argentine province of Misiones is one of the great natural wonders of the world. The Paraguayan city of Ciudad del Este is also very close to the falls, is separated from Brazil by the Rio Parana and united by Friendship Bridge. The Iguaçu National Park occupies territory of Brazil and Argentina, the overwhelming beauty of the Falls became World Heritage Site by UNESCO. One of the highlights is the Devil’s Throat, a U-shaped cliff with 150 m (492 ft) high and 700 m (2297 ft) in length that marks the beginning of the border between Brazil and Argentina. The water power of this cliff is impressive. Most falls are on the Argentine side but the best views are on the Brazilian side, not to be missed is the view from a boat towards the island San Martin on the Argentine side. The Brazilian side of the National Park is home to many rare birds and endangered wildlife that live in various types of forests and ecosystems. On the Argentine side there are paths and trails some of which lead to the edge of cliffs located beneath the waterfall.  It’s easy to get the waterfalls, you can get a flight to Foz do Iguaçu from Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo in the Brazilian side, there are daily flights from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu in Argentinian side. Ciudad del Este in Paraguay is also a good getaway to get the waterfalls.
