Johannesburg
Johannesburg was founded in 1886 as a gold-mining
town and is the capital of the province of Gauteng. The city had a troubled past with apartheid. It is a cultural city, the main museums are Mandela Family Museum in Soweto’s Orlando West, the Apartheid Museum is one of the largest museums in the African continent. There’s lso the Museum of Africa that focuses much about the history of Africa including ancient petroglyphs.
